For this bowl, I wanted to have a more fun look. I used bright colored glazes to bring lots of attention to it. Also, I had carved the word "YUM" into the bowl, which created a more casual and fun look. This year I have really been focusing on bringing personality into the projects.
It's been taking awhile to remember all of my ceramic techniques. This is one of my tall projects I made. I used choking to cause it to become more narrow towards the top of the vase, and then I created a lip. To glaze this project I used white and shadow green (the most runny glazes) which created a dripping affect. The vertical lines created by the drips give the project an effect of being more tall and skinny than it actually is.
For this year's tall project, I really focused on trying to make the project tall. Last year my project, though the height was more than double the width, was very small. I used Shadow Green and White, which both run, to create a vertical stripe affect, to make the project appear slimmer and taller. I also created a lip at the top to bring an upward movement to the project.
